It won't be long anymore! By next week we will be ready to release DiveShopManager 2.5! The big jump from version 2.03 to 2.5 happened because of the long development phase without actually releasing any of the versions in between. With more than 30 changes our dive center software has now become better than ever! Like always, we have been listening to the voices of our users and implemented most suggestions that came up during the past year. Two years after the final release of DiveShopManager 2.0, we are proud to have so many dive centers in so many countries working with DSM! Here are some of the improvements, added in the new version: DSM 2,5 will have a birthday calendar, allowing you to send out birthday e-mails to your divers. Additionally to the daily rentals there will also be hourly rentals for water sports such as kite surfing, wind surfing, kayak rental and so on. Furthermore, the cash box statistics will be password protected. New in the cash management section is, that the invoice data can now be exported, allowing the use of the data in third party book keeping software. We will keep you informed here, when the new version of DiveShopManager is ready for download. To upgrade from a previous version, simply download the upgrade package and follow the few steps in the 'readme file'. To be amongst the first to try DSM 2.5 and to stay informed about all our new software development, please Subscribe to our Dive Shop Software - Newsletter by EmailDive Centers and the Economy CrisesPosted by: samiotis on Friday, December 12, 2008 - 01:35 PM

The economy goes down everywhere and the scuba diving industry isn't an exception of the phenomena. My buddy Greg at divebuddy .com has just written an interesting blog about it. The article begins like this: "Everyone knows the markets and economy are down big time. Dive shops all over the world are feeling the pinch. I’m worried that next year there may be a mass exodus in the dive shop industry. Most mom and pop businesses keep a few months worth of expenses on hand to survive a slump...but I imagine that money is either gone or nearly gone by now. Business owners are probably trying to sell what they can OR get loans from family and friends OR take equity out of their house." Due to the many requests, raining on our head right now, i felt obliged to update the FAQ database once more. DiveShopManager 2.03 can do a lot of things that efficiently help to make a dive center more profitable. It can also help to run things smooth in the office and give you a great overview on all income and expenses of your dive resort. We do recommend though to go through the step by step instructions of the user manual while setting up the software for the first time. Due to the nature of the scuba diving business DiveShopManager is a very complex software. - I said complex, not complicated. The software is built upon logically happening events, so whenever you get stuck, just think how you would solve the problem with pen and paper. You will soon discover that it is not much different but far more effective to work with a software. If you do need help and you could not find the answer in the FAQ Database for the user manual, don't hesitate to contact our support. Your request will be answered within a few hours at most. We have great news from our development center; the dive resort software DiveShopManager has just been updated and a new version has been released with this update. DSM 2.03 has now even more statistic views and print possibilities. We also had to widen some summary number fields for our customers in Turkey and Indonesia. Nevertheless, there weren’t many bugs to fix what showed us that DSM is now running absolutely stable and without any crashes on all systems XP,Mac OX10+ and even on Windows Vista.
